Is there any history of valve guide seal failure on these engines? I looked at the oil cap and it looked caked on with burnt oil as was the top of the oil case. I took it in to a local repair facility to have them inspect it for the problem. Also great for engines that have flat tappet cams and vehicles that are under high stress and operating temperature. In some cases the engine would run entirely out of oil, resulting in catastrophic failure. I checked the oil after one tank of gas and a qt low. Isn't that standard practice for all used car inspections? Every now and then I would stop the car and check and I might see a whiff of light smoke but then nothing. I am covered under the class action settlement, assuming that when they drop the engine, it is indeed the problem.

It was like the oil is just disappearing. It would take at least a quart of oil every 700 miles or so. Go by distance or time. Keeps engine clean and sludge free. Good Luck- that is clearly not normal and not likely cured with heavier oil. Pour entire bottle in the gas tank about every 4,000 miles to clean out the fuel injection or carburetor and lines. No engine lights, no spotting on the garage floor.
